Album Review - Modern Baseball - Holy Ghost

The seasons are changing and fall harvest is upon the serfs. What better way to enjoy this time than to curl up in front of the fire with nice warm pumpkin spice latte and your favorite maroon chinos? The correct response is to add Modern Baseball’s spooky new Halloween album, “Holy Ghost”, to your record stack. These haunting tunes are not for the faint of heart…or the deaf…cause that would defeat the purpose. The album is split between three components: fall festivities, ghosts, and the existential crisis children will face while finding themselves as working members of a society that underappreciates what they accomplish.

“Apple Cider, I Don’t Mind”, under first inspection seems like an easy candidate for the fall festivities component. However, under closer examination the eerie vocals of Modern Baseball and misperception of time make it clear they are in fact ghosts. For a clearer guide of this year’s most chilling album listen to “Holy Ghost” and try not to feel goose flesh. These songs will make you run up your basement steps and fear sleep. I rate this the best Halloween concept album of the year. 5 stars.
